Tulsa won the toss and deferred to the second half. It was the first time in four games the Golden Hurricane won the coin toss.

Senior Garrett Mills caught a pass in 33 consecutive games, by catching the first completion for the Golden Hurricane. It was the fifth game of TU's six games this season in which Mills has made TU's first catch of the game.

Mills current streak of 33 consecutive game s with a catch is the longest current streak among the nation's tight ends.

In to the 1994 game, Southern Miss's final touchdown of the game was an interception return for a touchdown. On Saturday, USM's first touchdown was by interception return, giving the Golden Eagles two consecutive interception returns for touchdowns.

Tulsa has played three games at Southern Miss. In each contest, Tulsa has thrown an interception that was returned for a touchdown. In 1992, USM returned a pass 42 yards for a score. In 1994, the Eagles returned the interception 68 yards. Saturday's return was 48 yards.

Senior Garrett Mills caught 4 of the first 6 passes for the Golden Hurricane. His longest consecutive streak for a game is seven, against Oklahoma.

Senior Uril Parrish moved into ninth all-time with 135 yards rushing on the day. He moved into 10th all-time in the second quarter on a 25-yard run. He finished the first half with 83 yards on 11 carries. The Ridgefield Park, N.J. native rushed for more than 100-yards for the seventh time in his career at TU.

Senior Ashlan Davis recorded his first reception since the first game of the season with a seven-yard reception in the second quarter. Davis's lone reception against Minnesota was also seven yards.

On offense, the longest active consecutive start streak is held by junior Jeff Perrett with 28 straight games. On defense, fellow junior Nick Bunting has also started 28 consecutive games for the longest active streak on defense.

Mills caught a 3-yard touchdown pass to cumulate at 14-play, 98-yard drive that lasted 7:46 for the Golden Hurricane. It was the longest drive in terms of yardage and time of possession. The previous longest drive on the year was a 17-play, 85-yard drive that last 6:03 against Minnesota.

TU's 98-yard scoring drive was also the longest drive since a 99-yard scoring drive against Utah on Nov. 1, 1997.

Mills has caught a touchdown pass in four consecutive games this season.

Sophomore Paul Smith threw for a score and ran for two others. It was the second game this season that he threw for one and rushed for at least one, Oklahoma and USM. Smith also surpassed 200-yards passing for the fourth time this season.

Smith rushed for three touchdowns, all of which were for one-yard. His four rushing touchdowns this season have been for one-yard. The only other rushing TD in his career was a four-yard run against San Jose State on Nov. 22, 2003.

For the fifth and the sixth time this year that the opposing team has scored off a turnover against the Golden Hurricane.

TU's only player from Mississippi, Julian McGowan, recorded his first interception of the season in the third quarter. The turnover led to a game-tying 37-yard field goal by Brad DeVault.

After missing his first attempt of the night, senior Brad DeVault tied the game at 17-17 with 5:10 left in the third quarter. He then gave TU a 10-point lead with 11:09 left with a 45-yard field goal. He is now 9-11 on the season. With 37 career field goals, he ranks fifth on the school's career kicking chart. On extra points, DeVault was 4-for-4.

The TU defense intercepted four passes in a game for the first time this season. All came in the second half against the Golden Eagles. The last time TU intercepted four passes was against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 15, 2003 at Skelly Stadium.

Garrett Mills finished with over 100-yards receiving, while Parrish recorded more than 100-yards rushing. It was the second time this season TU had a 100-yard receiver and a 100-yard rusher in the same game. The last time the Hurricane had such a duo was once in the 2002 season.

Mills recorded over 100-yards receiving for the fourth time this season.

Junior Nick Graham intercepted his fifth pass this season. He has intercepted a pass in five games.
