Tulsa Places 11th at National Invitational Tournament

Sophomore Mitch Cohlmia turned in his fifth straight top-20 finish with a 19th-place performance at the National Invitational Tournament

Tucson, Arizona - The Tulsa men's golf team finished in 11th place in the 14-team field at the National Invitational Tournament on Tuesday at the par-72 Omni Tucson National Golf Course. The Hurricane completed the tournament with a four-under par 860 total.

Tulsa turned in its best round of the 54-hole tournament on the final day with a three-under par 285 score, but it wasn't enough to move up in the standings.

TCU captured the team title, while holding the lead from day one. Rounding out the top-10 teams were third-place UNLV and Arizona `A', fifth-place Texas, New Mexico in sixth place, followed by a two-way tie for seventh place, Arizona `B' and Pepperdine, and ninth-place, USC and Arizona State.

Hurricane sophomore Mitch Cohlmia finished in a 19th place tie with a three-under par score of 213. Cohlmia carded a final round score of even-par 72 today. The top-20 finish for Cohlmia was his fifth straight this year.

Austin Hackett turned in his second straight round of 71 today, and ended with a one-under par score of 215 for 31st place. Sam Korbe had the best round for the Hurricane on Tuesday with a three-under par score of 69 and ended the tournament in 37th place with an even-par 216 total.

Brett Myers, who carded an even-par 73 today, finished in 54th place with a three-over par score of 219, while Ryan Henry's 74 gave him a five-over par 220 total for the tournament.

Arkansas' Matt Bortis claimed the individual title with a 12-under par 204 score after scoring a four-under par 68 today. TCU's J.J. Killeen, the first and second round leader, dropped to 10th place after shooting a 74 on the final round.

Tulsa is back in action at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate, April 4-5, in Austin, Texas.
