Hardy Participating in NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship

Senior Melanie Hardy has been selected to the field of the 800-meter run at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Fayetteville, Ark. - Tulsa senior Melanie Hardy will be participating in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., March 11-12.

Hardy ran a 2:05.79 at the NCAA Qualifier in Ames, Iowa Saturday, shattering her previous record of 2:08.12, set at the WAC Indoor Championships one week ago, to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Hardy's time is currently the sixth-best time in the country. There will be 16 other runners in her event.

Hardy, from Jamaica, N.Y., has recorded four school records this indoor season, in three different distances. Hardy has the record in the 600-meter dash, the 800-meter run, twice, and the 1,000-meter run.

Hardy is scheduled to run in the preliminaries in the 800-meter run Friday, March 11, at 4:30 p.m. and the finals in the event at Saturday, March 12 at 6:35 p.m.
