Hardy, Stoltz and McGillen Finish First at Baylor Invitational

Waco, Texas - The University of Tulsa track and field team had a trio of first-place finishes at the Michael Johnson Classic, hosted by Baylor University at the Hart/Patterson Track and Field Complex.
Senior Melanie Hardy improved her NCAA regional qualifying time, as she finished first in the 800-meter invitational run. Hardy ran a 2:06.26, almost two hundredths faster then her original qualifying time set last weekend at the Sooner Invitational.
Tulsa's freshman javelin throwers put in first place performances as well. For the men, Thomas Stoltz threw for 196 feet, 10 inches. Stoltz has finished first in all five of his outdoor meets this outdoor season. His female counterpart, Katy McGillen, had a throw of 138 feet, 9 inches for her first place finish. McGillen has registered top-three finishes in her five outdoor meets this season.
Mathew Musengezi and Clif Mitchell posted second and third place finishes, respectively, for the Golden Hurricane in the 800-meter invitational run. Musengezi had a time of 1:51.26, while Mitchell ran a 1:51.39.
Jordan Hughes had a third place finish in the 1,500-meter open run with a time of 4:06.59. Jamal Bogle posted a 53.67 in the 400-meter hurdles for a third place finish.
Tulsa will take part in the prestigious Drake Relays the weekend of April 28-May 1, as well as send members to the Wichita State University Relays.
