Festivities Planned for Tulsa-Minnesota Football Game

Tulsa, Oklahoma - WEAR BLUE! is a spirit campaign encouraging TU Golden Hurricane fans to wear TU Blue to the football home opener against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, on Thursday, Sept. 1.
The nationally televised ESPN2 game that kicks off the 2005 football campaign will be surrounded by numerous pre-game activities to kick-off the Labor Day Holiday Weekend. Game time for the match-up with the Big 10 opponent is set for 9:15 pm. The pre-game festivities will begin at 6:00 pm. Two stages will feature live music by the Midwest Kings on the Gold Stage (11th street), and Midlife Crisis will perform on the Blue Stage (8th street). Eleventh Street between South Florence and S. Gary Place will be closed down for the street party.
Hurricane Alley, on the east side of Skelly Stadium, will feature interactive and inflatable games for kids. Oklahoma's own pro bass fishermen Jimmy Houston and Tommy Biffle, will meet fans and give autographs at Hurricane Alley. Hurricane Village at Hurricane Alley will feature a beer garden and various foods.
In addition, the first 10,000 fans in the gates will receive Tulsa World Thunderstix, while the first 2,500 fans will also receive a Golden Hurricane Football schedule magnet. St. Francis will sponsor 2,500 mini footballs that will be dispersed to the crowd throughout the game. A pre-game fireworks show is also scheduled.

The gates will open at 7:30 pm for the home opener.
