Final Stats

Miami, Fla. -

Tulsa freshmen Jose Parada and Kyle Corrie registered one goal apiece, while sophomore goalkeeper Tyrel Lacey picked up three saves to record a shutout over Florida International on Wednesday night at University Park in Miami, Florida. TU moved to 4-7 on the season, including a 2-1 Conference USA mark.

Freshman midfielder Hunter Christiansen took the ball from a defender at the left corner of the box and passed it to Parada who punched in the first goal of the night and his second goal of the season at the 35th minute. In a similar situation at the 78th minute, junior midfielder Eric Burkholder crossed the ball to Corrie who tapped it into the net to put TU up 2-0 late in the game.

"We created more chances tonight," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We played better tonight than we have in quite a while. I am proud of the team for coming off last week's loss and taking control of the game from the very early minutes. It is always good to earn a win on the road against a tough conference opponent."

The Golden Hurricane and Golden Panthers matched each other shot for shot, with each team tallying 11 on the night, but Tulsa posted eight shots on goal to FIU's three.

TU will return home to host Marshall on October 7th at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Match time is set for 7:05 p.m.
