Tulsa Track Teams Conclude Competition at Drake Relays

The University of Tulsa men's and women's track teams concluded competition in the Drake Relays on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa. The Golden Hurricane turned in a school record and three season-bests in the final day of the contest.In the Women's 4x1,600-Meter Relay, freshman Dawn Nagazina, senior Lise Olivier, and freshmen Marissa Saunders and Alex Becker captured a school-record setting time of 20:25.54 for a sixth-place performance. This was the first time in school history TU participated in the event.
Juniors Chantelle Willard, Krystol Lartey and Shameka Holloway, and freshman April Montgomery turned in a seventh-place time of 3:58.63 in the Sprint Medley Relay. They recorded a season-best and the fourth-best time in school history.
On the men's side, juniors Mathew Musengezi and Rickey Wilson, Jr., sophomore Jerrod Landress and junior Andrew Beard combined in the Distance Medley. Their time of 10:04.24 was a season-best and the fourth-best time in school history.
Landress, Wilson, freshman Adam Whitaker and Musengezi posted a season-best 3:17.02 in the 4x400-Meter Relay.
The Golden Hurricane will return to action on Thursday-Saturday, May 11-13, at the Conference USA Championships in El Paso, Texas.
