Tulsa's Matt Wiley Earns Conference USA Postgraduate Scholarship

Matt Wiley received one of 12 Conference USA Postgraduate Scholarship Awards.

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa's Matt Wiley was one of 12 recipients selected by Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowksy for the conference Postgraduate Scholarship Award. Conference USA annually presents the $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the Faculty Athletics Representatives.

Wiley, a senior from Carrollton, Texas, was four-year letterwinner and two-year starter in the midfield for the Golden Hurricane. He played in 63 career games with 43 starts and registered career numbers of eight goals and five assists for 13 points, and chalked up three career game-winning goals. During his career, he helped Tulsa to two NCAA Tournament appearances, 42 victories and the school's highest national ranking of No. 8 in 2004.

He was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first team following his senior season and also earned a TU's Garrison Award for the highest grade point for a student-athlete with a perfect 4.0. Wiley was a four-year member of the President's List and earned academic All-America second team honors as a junior.

A philosophy major, with a Spanish/religion minor, Wiley was Phi Beta Kappa and earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. He plans to continue his studies in philosophy and obtain a Ph.D. to become a university professor.
