Tulsa Continues 2007 Season at Missouri Southern Invitational

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa track and field will continue the 2007 indoor season Fri.-Sat., Jan. 26-27, when they travel the Fazolis/Baymont Inn Missouri Southern Invitational at the Leggett and Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, Mo.

The Missouri Southern Invitational will get rolling at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with men's long jump, women's weight throw and men's pole vault. The distance medley relay and the 3000m will be run on Friday as well with running beginning at 8 p.m.

Field events will kick off on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with running events scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

Last time out, Tulsa's Alex Becker took full advantage of her opportunity to run in the championship flight of the mile run at the Razorback Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark., by winning the event with a school record and NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 4:41.35. Becker's mark snapped her own record in the event by 9.55 seconds.

Becker wasn't the only Hurricane to have a good Saturday at Arkansas.

Caitlyn Clancy broke the school record in the women's pole vault for the second week in a row by clearing 11-0.75 to finish 10th.

Edwin Henshaw posted an 8:11.60 in the 3,000m championship flight to climb to second on TU's all-time list in the 3,000m. Henshaw finished fourth in the event, with team mate Kyle Dekker crossing in fifth with an 8:23.11.

On the women's side of the 3K, Ashlea Gilfillan posted a 10:01.90 to finish fourth in the championship flight.

Atilla Korosi continued to improve after arriving at TU at the semester, posting a 48.21 in the 400m to finish fifth and slide to No. 3 on TU's all-time list in the event. Chantelle Willard finished third in the 60m dash with a 7.71 to move into fifth on the all-time list.

Rob Nickels used a triple jump of 45-0.50 to move into third on TU's all-time list. Thomas Stoltz finished the heptathlon with 3,847 points to grab a fourth place finish.

Eric Harris, Brett Turowski and Jay Matlack finished third, fourth and sixth in the 3,000m with times of 8:34.46, 8:34.56 and 8:41.45, respectively.

Lewis Timmins and Jordan Hughes finished fourth and eighth, respectively in the mile, with Timmins posting a 4:15.98 and Hughes a 4:19.64.

Nolan Jenkins posted a sixth place finish in the 800m with a 1:57.18, while on the women's side Tayler Rigsby posted a 2:18.55 to finish second.
