Edmond, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's golf team jumped from ninth place into seventh place after two rounds at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate on Monday. The Hurricane has a 36-hole total of 619 at the par-71 OakTree Country Club course.
The Hurricane scored a round of 298 today, 23 strokes better than yesterday's opening round. Fellow Conference USA member SMU moved into first place with a three-under round of 281 today and has a 588 total. Rounding out the top-five teams are Texas A&M and Texas Tech (593), Baylor (598) and Arkansas (601).
Tulsa golfers fared much better on day two, than on a windy first round as all but one golfer carded a better round on Tuesday. Junior Nicolas Geyger moved into 17th place after a one-over par 72 today put him at 10-over par for the tournament with a score of 152. Freshman James Dalthorp had the next best round of the day for the Hurricane with a two-over par 73 and moved into a tie for 36th place with a 157 score.
Freshman Ville Vaisanen, although shooting a 79 today after yesterday's best team round of 76, is in 28th place with a 155 total. One stroke back is sophomore Rob Laird with a 36-hole total of 156 after today's score of 74. He is in 32nd place overall, while Ryan Brooks is in a tie for 52nd place with a 163 total after today's round of 80.
Individually, Texas Tech's Will Griffin and Arkansas' Jason Turner are tied for medalist honors with one-over par rounds of 143.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
