Tulsa's Brett Myers Wins Title at Rio Pinar Intercollegiate

Brett Myers won medalist honors at the Rio Pinar Invitational on Tuesday.

Orlando, Fla. - Tulsa senior Brett Myers captured medalist honors at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Myers shot a final round 72 and finished with a three-stroke victory with an eight-under par score of 208. As a team, the Hurricane placed second overall, finishing one stroke behind first-place Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Tulsa carded a final round 291 and finished with an 863 score, while Chattanooga had a final round 287 for an 862 three-round total. Mississippi (872), Louisville (876) and UT-Arlington (879) rounded out the top-five teams.

Myers captured his first career tournament victory and he is the fourth Tulsa golfer this season in six tournaments to claim medalist honors. Sam Korbe won the Oklahoma Intercollegiate championship, while Nicolas Geyger and Mitch Cohlmia tied for medalist honors at The Landfall Tradition in the fall.

Myers finished three shots better than second-place finisher Bryce Ledford of Chattanooga.

Korbe was Tulsa's next top finisher today as he carded a final round 72 for a 54-hole total of 216 to finish in fifth-place. Cohlmia placed 15th overall with a 219 score after today's round of 72, while fellow senior Ryan Henry was two places back in 17th place with a 220 total.

Geyger finished in 41st place with a 223 score.

The Hurricane will be back in action, March 10-12, at the General Jim Hackler Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
