Tulsa Falls to Notre Dame in Blue Gray Classic Semifinals

Montgomery, Ala. - The University of Tulsa's men's tennis team fell to 12-4 on the year after suffering a 4-1 loss to No. 7 Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Ala.
The Hurricane, ranked No. 26 in the nation, took an early 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point, including a big win for Arnau Brugues and Federico Soriano who took an 8-2 decision over the No. 13-ranked duo of Ryan Keckly and Sheeva Parbhu. Tulsa's 41st-ranked pair of Diego Camacho and Ross Cunningham clinched the doubled point with an 8-3 win over Barry King and Brett Helgeson.
Singles play was a different story for the Hurricane, however. No. 57 Sheeva Parbhu evened the score by downing Federico Soriano by a score of 6-4, 6-2, and No. 107 Helgeson grabbed a 7-6, 6-3 win over Ricardo Soriano to put TU down 2-1.
Tulsa's No. 5-ranked Arnau Brugues won his first set against No. 12 Stephen Bass, but Bass stormed back in sets two and three to take 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 decision and give the Irish a 3-1 lead.
The Match was clinched at the four position where Barry King picked up a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win over No. 120 Will Gray.
TU picked up its lone singles win with Cunningham grabbing a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 win over Keckly at the five position to fashion the final score of 4-2.
Tulsa will be back in action on March 21 when the Hurricane travels to College Station, Texas, to face Texas A&M at 6 p.m.
