College Station, Texas - The University of Tulsa men's tennis team (12-5) suffered a 5-2 loss to No. 49 Texas A&M on Wednesday evening in College Station, Texas.
Tulsa, ranked No. 22 in the nation in the ITA/Fila National Rankings, fell behind early after dropping the doubles point, with only the duo of Andy Connelly and Lucques Maasdorp picking up a win, 8-0 over the No. 41 ranked team of Mike Beatty and Bryan Wooten.
The Hurricane found little more advantage in the singles competition, with the Aggies clinching the match with three consecutive straight-set wins.
TU found itself down 5-0 before responding with a win by No. 3 Arnau Brugues over No. 114 Jerry Makowski, 6-1, 3-6, 3-1 retired, and followed that with a 4-6, 6-3, 13-11 win by Ricardo Soriano over Luka Ocvirk to fashion the final score of 5-2
Tulsa will be back in action on March 27 when it faces No. 16 Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. in Stillwater, Okla.
