Tulsa Golfers Open Play at C-USA Championships on Sunday

Texarkana, Arkansas - The 17th-ranked Tulsa men's golf team open play at the 2007 Conference USA Golf Championships this week, April 29-May 1, at the Texarkana Country Club.

Tulsa enters the 54-hole event as one of the favorites to capture the team title. The Hurricane has placed among the top-three in six tournaments this year, including victories at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate and The Landfall Tradition.

The Hurricane placed third at last year's C-USA Championships, placing eight strokes behind first-place SMU and two strokes behind second-place UCF. Tulsa's Mitch Cohlmia and Sam Korbe finished in a fifth-place tie at last year's event.

This year's Hurricane attack has all five of its' golfers with better than a 73.5 stroke average and winners of at least one tournament title among them. Brett Myers has a 72.6 stroke average to lead Tulsa and won individual honors at the Rio Pinara Invitational.

Fellow seniors Mitch Cohlmia and Sam Korbe had identical 72.7 stroke averages. Korbe has placed among the top-20 in six tournaments while winning the individual crown at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate. Cohlmia has four top-15 performances this year and placed first at both The Landfall Tradition and the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate.

Sophomore Nicolas Geyger tied for first-place with Cohlmia at The Landfall Tradition, while placing among the top-20 in three tournaments this year. Senior Ryan Henry has five top-20 finishes and a 73.3 stroke average. He placed first and second in back-to-back tournaments this spring, finishing first at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate and second at the National Invitational.

In school history, Tulsa has won 10 conference tournament titles and has placed as the league runner-up 17 times. Tulsa shared the 2005 Western Athletic Conference title and won the 2002 WAC crown outright.
