Tulsa Golfers Lead C-USA Championships By Three Strokes

Texarkana, Arkansas - The Tulsa men's golf team carded an opening round three-under par 285 on Sunday and sits in first place at the Conference USA Men's Golf Championships. Tulsa senior Ryan Henry is also in first place in the individual race with a four-under par 68.
Tulsa has a three-stroke lead over second-place Memphis at the par-72 Texarkana Country Club. UTEP (291), Southern Miss (293) and Houston (295) round out the top-5 teams.
With his four-under par 68, Henry holds a one-stroke lead over second-place Garrett Osborn of UAB and Memphis' Brad Benjamin.
Henry was two-under par after the front nine with four birdies and two bogeys. He started this final nine holes with a par on hole 10, birdie on the par-3 11th hole and an eagle on the par-5 12th hole before a bogey on the par-4 14th hole to finish two-under par on the back nine as well.
Sophomore Nicolas Geyger fired a one-under par 71 and is in a fifth-place tie. Geyger had a birdie on the second hole and shot even on the other 17 holes today. Senior Brett Myers had an even-par 72 and sits in a tie for 11th place. Myers was three-under par after his first nine holes, but bogeyed three holes on the back nine to finish at even par.
Tulsa seniors Mitch Cohlmia and Sam Korbe carded identical rounds of 74 and sit in a tie for 22nd place.
Second round action takes place on Monday, while the final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday. The champion of the Conference USA event will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Championship.
