Gilfillan Named C-USA Female Co-Freshman of the Year

Tulsa's Ashlea Gilfillan was named C-USA Female Co-Freshman of the Year following the 2007 C-USA Outdoor Championships.

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa's Ashlea Gilfillan has started her TU career with a bang, earning Conference USA Female Co-Freshman of the Year honors following the 2007 Conference USA Outdoor Championships.

Gilfillan had an outstanding outdoor championship, posting a second place finish in the 3,000m steeple chase and a fourth place finish in the 5,000m run.

Her time of 10:45.92 in the steeple chase was a regional qualifying mark, and also broke a school record she had set earlier in the year in her first ever collegiate steeple chase event.

Gilfillan and several other Hurricane players will be back in action when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for the NCAA Midwest Region Championships on May 25-26.
