Tulsa Football Newcomers Report on Monday, Varsity on Tuesday

The Tulsa football team reports to preseason camp this week.

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa football coaches will welcome the newcomers to campus on Monday as preseason football camp begins. The varsity will report on Tuesday, and practice will begin on Wednesday under the guidance of first-year Head Coach Todd Graham.

Tulsa expects to welcome 104 players to camp this week, including 68 varsity returnees and 36 newcomers. Among the newcomers 13 are walk-on athletes. The Hurricane returns 36 lettermen from last year's team that finished with an 8-5 record and played in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, the third bowl in four seasons for Tulsa.

Newcomers will undergo physicals, strength and nutrition instruction, equipment sizing, general orientation and academic orientation.

The first two days of practice, Wednesday and Thursday, the newcomers will have one practice session in the morning from 9-11 am, while the varsity will practice from 7-9 pm.

Friday will be the first time that both the varsity and newcomers will be on the practice field at the same time. Friday and Saturday's practice sessions are set for 9-11 am. All practice sessions throughout preseason camp will take place on Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

Tulsa opens the season on Thursday, August 30th against UL-Monroe on ESPN2 in Monroe, Louisiana at 6:00 pm (CT). It is the first college football game of the 2007 season.
