Tulsa Track and Field Finishes Strong at Tyson Invitational

Fayetteville, Ark. - The University of Tulsa's track and field completed the Tyson Invitational on a high note, located on the campus of the Univ. of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. The team had one second-place finish, one third-place finish, one fourth-place finish and one fifth-place finish.
TU's women's distance medley team shattered the school record en route to provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Champions. The team of Tayler Rigsby, Jennifer Mace, Ashley Aitken and Alex Becker finished third in a time of 11:28.21, more than 12 seconds faster than the school record.
In the women's 3,000-meter championship race, sophomore Lana Kelley finished second in a time of 9:58.34. Kelley's time was good enough for a personal record and is the fifth fastest in TU history.
Sophomore Mark Davidson posted a fifth-place finish in the men's 3,000-meter invitational race with a personal record time of 8:06.40. Davidson missed provisionally qualifying for the NCAAs by 1.4 seconds, though his time places him second in school history in the 3,000-meters.
Also running a personal record time in 3,000-meters was Lewis Timmins. Timmins races in the 3,000-meter championship race finished fourth in a time of 8:14.50, beating his previous record by two seconds.
Other Golden Hurricane women competitors include: Ashley Wills finishing 78th in the preliminaries of the women's 200-meters in a time of 25.61; Jessica Ford finishing 79th in the preliminaries of the women's 400-meters in a time of 25.70; April Montgomery finishing 20th in the women's 800-meters with a time of 2:15.48; Ashley Aitken finishing 37th in the women's 800-meters with a time of 2:17.93; Dawn Nagazina finishing 43rd in the women's 800-meters with a time of 2:22.01; Laura Englehutt finishing 15th in the women's 3000-meters in a time of 10:24.55; and Dannielle McKenzie finishing 17th in the women's 3000-meters with a time of 10;32.59.
Other men's results include: Jordan Hughes finishing 15th in the men's 800-meters in a time of 1:54.50; Josh Butts finishing right behind Hughes in 17th-place in a time of 1:55.34; Jay Matlack finishing 10th in the 3,000-meters with a time of 8:51.42; and men's 4x400 meter relay team finished 12th in a time of 3:16.51.
