Tulsa Golfers Open Season at UCF Rio Pinar Invitational

Orlando, Florida - The Tulsa men's golf team opens the spring season this week at the UCF Rio Pinar Invitational, Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 25-26. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the 7,003-yard Rio Pinar Golf and Country Club. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and finish with 18 on Tuesday.

Tulsa is one of 18 teams competing for the tournament title. The field includes host UCF, Arkansas State, Chattanooga, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Mercer, Ole Miss, North Florida, Ohio State, Old Dominion, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Tulsa, Texas-Arlington, USF, Wichita State.

The Hurricane will be paired on Monday with UT-Arlington and Southern Miss.

Junior Nicolas Geyger leads a young Golden Hurricane squad. Geyger finished the fall campaign by winning medalist honors at The Landfall Tradition, while Tulsa won the team title. Geyger had a 74.1 stroke average in four fall tournaments for Tulsa.

The Hurricane placed second at last year's Rio Pinar Invitational, while Tulsa senior Brett Myers won the individual title. Chattanooga won the team crown a year ago, overtaking Tulsa in the final round for a one-stroke victory, 862 to 863.
