Final Results of the Arlington Invitational

The University of Tulsa's track and field competed well in its second outdoor meet of the season at the Arlington Invitational on the campus of the Univ. of Texas at Arlington on Saturday 29. The team had one first-place finish, one second-place finish, four third-place finishes, three fourth-place finishes and two fifth-place finishes.

Senior Joel Stansloski claimed first-place in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:22.93. Stansloski's time set a new personal-best and was the third fastest time in school history. His previous best time was 9:26.83.

Freshman Craig Shultz posted TU's second-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.98m (6-6.00). Shultz also finished 11th the long jump with a distance of 6.43m (21-1.25). Senior Kyle McGillen also claimed a top-5 finish in the high with a fourth-place finish with a height of 1.93m (6-4.00).

The Golden Hurricane claimed four third-place finishes, three for the women and one for the men. On men's side, red-shirt freshman Mark Davidson picked up third in the 800m with a time of 1:51.46. The three third-place finishers for the women were: freshman Brianna Steel, senior Katy McGillen and junior Dawn Nagazina. Steel finished third in the high jump with a height of 1.62m (5-4.00), just short of her school record. McGillen posted a third-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 42.09m (138-1.00). Nagazina claimed third in the 800m with a time of 2:12.61.

TU posted two of its three fourth-place finishes in the same event. Junior Kris Karnes was third in the 400m hurdles with a personal-record time of 54.83. Fellow junior April Montgomery in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.42.

The women's squad claimed the Golden Hurricane's two fifth-place finishes. Freshman Jennifer Mace was fifth in the 200m with a time of 24.62. Tayler Rigsby finished fifth in 1,500m with a time of 4:35.44. Rigsby's beat her previous personal-record by more than five seconds.

The Golden Hurricane track and field team will again be action next weekend (April 4-5) as it travels to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational.
