Tulsa went to 4-0 on the season, the first time since 1978, with a 62-34 victory over the UCA Bears in front of a crowd of 20,646 at H.A. Chapman Stadium. The 62 points for the Hurricane is the third straight contest that Tulsa scored over 50 points, marking the first time that has occurred in school history since the 1920 season

Senior running back Tarrion Adams made history when he hauled in a 24-yard touchdown pass and ended the game with 120 yards and one TD rushing along with his one touchdown reception. Quarterback David Johnson completed 18-of-22 passes for 286 yards and four TDs, while senior receiver Brennan Marion had his third 100+ yard receiving game of the year with 136 yards and two TDs on six catches.

UCA (4-1), who came into the game ranked 12th nationally in the Football Championship Subdivision, gave the Hurricane all it can handle for a half, trailing just 28-20 at the break.

The Hurricane out-scored UCA 32-14 in the second half after Tulsa held just an eight-point lead at halftime. Tulsa surpassed the 600-yard plateau for the third time this year, while putting up 641 to UCA's 435 yards. After the intermission, the Hurricane defense clamped down on UCA, allowing the visitors only 182 total yards, 60 of which came on a touchdown pass.

Tulsa opened the game with a 64-yard, seven-play scoring drive as Johnson connected with Marion on a 51-yard touchdown toss. The Bears knotted the score on its first possession, going 76 yards as UCA's Nathan Brown hit Eric Ware with a 16- yard touchdown.

For the fourth straight game, the Hurricane scored on its first two possessions as this week Johnson hit Slick Shelly for a 14-yard touchdown giving the Hurricane a 14-7 lead. The Bears took its subsequent possession 62 yards, but had to settle for a 36-yard Eddie Carmona field goal.

Adams' 24-yard touchdown reception from Johnson on Tulsa's next possession made him the only Hurricane player in school history to surpass 1,000 yards receiving and 2,000 yards passing in a career. The reception gave Adams 1,017 career receiving yards.

On the subsequent possession, UCA went 64 yards in 14 plays and Carmona knocked in a 27-yard field goal to cut into Tulsa's lead, making it 21-13.

The Hurricane responded with a nine-play, 79-yard drive as Courtney Tennial ran in from one-yard out to give Tulsa a 28-13 lead at the 4:36 mark of the second quarter. The Bears cut the Hurricane lead to eight points right before halftime, scoring on a seven-yard pass from Brown to Nick Cowger, at the 0:49 mark of the second period capping a 74-yard, eight-play drive.

At halftime, the Hurricane held a 317 to 253-yard edge over the Bears, while the visitors had more than a 10-minute advantage in possession time, 21:10 to 8:50.

After a failed UCA fake punt gave the Hurricane the ball at the Bears 41-yard line, Tulsa went five plays in 1:37 as Johnson hooked up with Marion on a 26-yard touchdown pass. On Tulsa's next possession, Jarod Tracy's 29-yard field goal at the 6:17 mark of the third quarter capped a 50-yad, nine-play drive.

The Hurricane put its 52nd point on the scoreboard with 13:26 left in the game giving Tulsa a 52-26 lead and making it the third straight game that Tulsa scored over 50 points. Tennial's one-yard run capped a 34-yard, six-play drive. Tracy added a 27-yard field goal and Tennial added his third one-yard touchdown run with 0:13 remaining on the clock.

Tulsa will host the Rice Owls in Conference USA action next week. Rice has a 2-0 league mark, while Tulsa is 1-0 in C-USA West Division.
