Tulsa Women Finish Second, Men third at Wichita State Invitational

Wichita, Kan. - The University of Tulsa's women's track and field team finished in second place after turning in five first-place individual finishes on Friday at the Wichita State Invitational. The men's team turned in two first-place finishes and three second-place individual marks to finish third in three-team meet in Wichita, Kan.
Sophomore Jennifer Mace led the women's squad with two first-place marks in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Mace finished the 60-meter dash in 7.74 seconds, and completed the 200m in 24.98. Junior Tayler Rigsby won the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:13.91, while sophomore Brianna Steel captured the top spot in the high jump (5-03.75) and sophomore Kelsey Klein claimed first place in the weight throw with a toss of 16.09m (52-09.5).
The women's team finished second with 84 points behind Wichita State who scored 131.5 points.
Sophomore Mark Davidson won the 800m with a time of 1:53.49, and senior Lewis Timmins captured the mile-run with a time of 4:18.31 to lead the men's squad. Freshman Bill Martin placed second in the 800-meters behind Davidson with a time of 1:58.25, and junior Kyle Dekker finished second behind Timmins in the mile-run with a time of 4:18.73.
Senior Eric Harris picked up a second-place finish in the 3,000-meters clocking a time of 8:44.3.
The men's team finished in third place with 67 points, behind Fort Hays State who placed second with 85 points, and Wichita State who finished first with 118 points.
The Hurricane returns to action on January 23 at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
