Irving, Texas - University of Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne was one of 11 players named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for Football, as selected by the league's sports information directors.

The all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a starter or key reserve on their team.

Kinne, a sophomore from Mesquite, Texas, has maintained a 3.33 grade point average in exercise sports science.

In 12 games this season, Kinne completed 61-percent of his passes for 2,732 yards and 22 touchdowns. He was also Tulsa's leading rusher with 393 yards and five TDs. Kinne had three 300+ passing games on the year and became the first player in school history to pass for over 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in a single game, a feat he accomplished against No. 13th-ranked Houston.

Kinne was the only academic selection for the Hurricane and the fifth Tulsa player earning C-USA academic honors since the award was established in 2007. Previous honorees were Nelson Coleman and Paul Smith in 2007 and Moton Hopkins and David Johnson a year ago.
