Norman, Okla. - The University of Tulsa track and field team turned in a total of 11 top-five finishes on Saturday at the J.D. Martin Invitational in Norman, Okla. The women's squad led the way with eight top-five times, highlighted by sophomore Jennifer Mace's school-record performance in the 600-yard run with time of 1:21.58. Mace finished third in the 600-yard competition.
Senior Dawn Nagazina posted Tulsa's only first-place finish in the 1,000 meters with a personal-best time of 2:56.45. Junior Tayler Rigsby placed second behind Nagazina in 2:57.51. Nagazina moved into fourth place on the all-time school records list. Ashley Aitken finished fourth in 3:02.63.
Junior Katie Wright also imprinted her name in school record books in the mile-run clocking a time of 4:58.93, placing her fourth all-time. Wright finished fifth in the "A Section" mile-run.
Sophomore Kelsey Klein finished fifth in the weight throw with a personal-best throw of 16.73 meters (54-10.75). The throw moved Klein into second place on the all-time indoor school records list.
Sophomore Ashley Wills finished second in the 200 meters running a time 25.05, and freshman Racquell Powell placed fifth in the 200m with a time of 26.01.
The men's team turned in three top-five performances, all by freshmen in the mile-run. Sam Masters placed third in the "A Section" mile-run with a personal-best time of 4:20.37, while teammate Bill Martin finished behind him in fourth place with a time of 4:20.70. Daniel LePage turned in a time of 4:33.13 in the "B Section" mile-run to finish in third place.
The Hurricane returns to action on Feb. 6-7 at the Missouri Southern State Radio Shack Invitational in Joplin, Mo.
