Tulsa Golfers Finish Ninth at National Invitational Tournament

Tucson, Arizona - The Tulsa men's golf team finished in ninth place after carding a 296 in the final round today for a three-round 883 total at the National Invitational Tournament on the OMNI Tucson National Course in Tucson, Arizona.
Forty-sixth ranked New Mexico claimed the team championship with a 14-under par 850, seven strokes ahead of second-place, 38th-ranked Arizona. TCU (861), UNLV (863) and California (868) rounded out the top five teams.
Seniors Rob Laird and Nicolas Geyger tied for 18th place as both players carded two-over par 218 totals. Laird had the best round of the day for TU with a one-over par 73. Freshmen Arie Fauzi and Andre' Tourinho turned in 224 totals for 50th place, but Tourinho was competing as an independent for this tournament. Senior Ryan Brooks finished 62nd with a 227 total, and freshman Stephen Carney was 68th with a 229 score.
New Mexico's Nick Geyer claimed the individual title with a nine-under par 207.
TU will return to play on March 30-31 at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas.
