Becker Places Fifth in 10,000m at NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Tulsa track and field senior Alex Becker placed fifth in the finals of the women's 10,000-meter run with a time of 34:00.82, Thursday evening at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at McDonnell Field.
Junior John Beattie finished 10th in the men's 10,000m final with a time of 29:19.97, and sophomore Justin Duncan ran a season-best time of 3:45.91 in the 1,500-meter semifinals. Duncan finished seventh in his heat and 17th overall in the semifinal heats, missing the finals.
Becker, whose fifth-place finish earned four team points for the Golden Hurricane, will compete in the finals of the 5,000-meter run Friday evening.
