Tulsa Men's Soccer Team Hosts Missouri State on Tuesday

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The 12th-ranked Tulsa men's soccer team will kick off the 2009 regular season at home against Missouri State this Tuesday. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Tickets are $4 for youth (16 and under) and $6 for adults.
Tulsa, which posted a 1-1 mark in exhibition play, enters the contest ranked in the top-25 in all five polls, including a No. 12 ranking from College Soccer News, No. 13 by Soccer Times, No. 14 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, No. 15 by Top Drawer Soccer and No. 22 by Soccer America.
The 2009 Golden Hurricane squad, which returns 79-percent of its scoring force from last year, features seven seniors, four juniors, five sophomores and 12 freshmen. TU returns 17 letterwinners, including seven starters, and welcomes 11 newcomers to the team.
This will be 37th meeting between Tulsa and the Bears, with the Hurricane posting a 23-11-2 advantage in the overall series.
Tom McIntosh, who is in his 15th season at the helm of the men's soccer team, led TU to the best season in school history in 2008. Tulsa won both the Conference USA regular season and tournament championships for the second straight year, advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in school history and earned a program-best No. 5 national ranking. The Golden Hurricane also established a school-best 16-game unbeaten streak, a 16-game road winning streak and a single-season high with 10 shutouts.
