Tulsa's Ron West Takes Illinois Coaching Position

Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa's co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Ron West has accepted an assistant coaching position at the University of Illinois. Outside receiver coach Clarence James also announced his resignation from the Tulsa football coaching staff, it was announced today.
West will coach the inside linebackers for the Illini. West and James each spent one year on the Tulsa coaching staff.
West came to Tulsa after 10 years at Clemson University. He also coached at Tulane (1997-98), Baylor (1993-96) Louisiana-Lafayette (1986-1992), Texas Tech (1981-85) and North Texas (1980).
James is a former all-state halfback at Okmulgee Dunbar (Okla.) High School, James coached for 29 years on the collegiate ranks. He spent the 2009 campaign as Tulsa's outside receiver coach and director of recruiting. James also spent coaching stops at SMU (2002-07), Oklahoma (1992-98), Texas (1987-91), Texas Tech (1981-86) and North Texas (1978-80)
