Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's soccer exhibition game against CF Monterrey, a Mexican futbol team from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, remained tied at 3-3 after 90 minutes, but the Rayados out-scored the Golden Hurricane, 3-0, in the shootout to claim the victory on Tuesday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.

"I thought we competed quite well for much of the game," Tulsa Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "I think in spells we possessed the ball quite well. It was a really good game and exercise for us to play a team that has the ability to possess the ball like they do. They just beat the Mexican Under-20 National Team and went to the finals of the Dallas Cup. It was an even game and we created a number of chances. Giving up three goals in the fashion we did was disappointing, but we couldn't ask for a better exercise for a spring game."

Junior, midfielder Hunter Christiansen put Tulsa on the board quickly, as he scored on a corner kick taken by Chris Taylor with just 1:46 ticked off the clock. Santiago Rivera countered with a goal just 44 seconds later to tie the contest.

The Rayados put one into the net for Tulsa on an own goal in the 43rd minute, but again CF Monterrey managed to tie the game before the break.

Cesar de la Pena drilled the ball into the back of the net from the left side into the upper right corner from 20 yards out in the 74th minute, but Austin Neil knocked in the game-tying goal with less than five minutes remaining off a cross from Wyatt Stephens.

The Rayados punched in three of their first four penalty kicks to win the contest.

CF Monterrey out-shot TU, 6-5, while the Golden Hurricane had a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
