Tulsa Trio Competes at U.S. Amateur, Completes Stroke Play

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Three University of Tulsa freshman golfers John Young Kim, Mark Hicks and Cody Kent competed at the U.S. Amateur Championship Monday and Tuesday at Chambers Bay, playing through two rounds of stroke play.

Kim (+10), Hicks (+15) and Kent (+16) all were above the projected cut line of six strokes over par Tuesday night, but second-round play was not yet complete.

Kim shot a two-round score of 153, including an 81 in the first round at the par-71 Chambers Bay Golf Course and an even-par 72 in the second round at The Home Course. Hicks posted a 158 after two rounds, shooting 85 on the Chambers Bay Golf Course and a 73 on The Home Course. Kent shot a two-round score of 159, including a first-round 80 at The Chambers Bay Golf Course and a 79 on The Home Course Tuesday.
