FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Tulsa track and field teams claimed two event titles and a plethora of personal records fell on the final day of the Tyson Invitational Saturday at Randal Tyson Track Center.

The men's distance medley relay team of senior Justin Duncan, junior Carl Stones, sophomore Chris O'Hare and freshman Brian Tabb won their event in 9:48.07. The mark is the fifth fastest in school history.

Freshman Josie Wilcox won the 3,000 meters with a personal-best time of 9:53.11. Sophomore Ashley Scott placed fifth in the same event in 10:04.45.

Senior Paula Whiting finished second in the 3,000m Invitational with a personal best of 9:19.01. She shaved nearly 20 seconds off her previous fastest time.

Freshman Dennis Hodapp finished second in the 3,000m with a time of 8:22.38, and junior Paulo Pinheiro placed fourth in 8:24.39.

Junior Tom Marshall finished second in the 3,000m Invitational with a time of 8:12.74. Sophomore Geraint Davies placed seventh in 8:17.91 and junior Bill Martin finished eighth in 8:24.94.

TU's women's distance medley relay team finished fifth with a time of 11:53.64. The team consisted of sophomores Caroline Schuster and Erin Huddleston, and freshmen Lauren Collette and Sarah Macpherson.

Juniors Justin Smith and David Fitter each ran personal bests in the 400-meter dash. Smith ran a 48.93 and Fitter finished in 49.04.

The Conference USA Championships are next on the docket for the Golden Hurricane. TU will travel to Houston for the C-USA Indoor Championships Feb. 25-26.
