Tulsa's Wilson Holloway Loses Battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa student-athlete Wilson Holloway died on Wednesday, February 16, following a three-year battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
A junior offensive lineman for the Golden Hurricane football team, Wilson was on a leave of absence this academic year as he battled cancer for the third time since 2008. Widely known for his smile and his optimism, Wilson was honored with the 2008 FedEx Orange Bowl/Football Writers Association of America Courage Award. He was named in June as a recipient of the Wilma Rudolph Student-Athlete Achievement Award and he was a finalist for the 2010 Uplifting Athletes Rare Disease Champion award.
"We are deeply saddened today by the tragic loss of Wilson Holloway after his tireless and relentless battle with hodgkins lymphoma. We extend our sincere thoughts and prayers to his family, friends and teammates in this time of sorrow," said Tulsa Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham. "In his four years at The University of Tulsa, Wilson's smile was contagious to those who ever met him. He fought the disease with a tireless and enthusiastic spirit. We'll never forget Wilson's own words `I don't take things for granted anymore. There are days I wish I could go out and do the drills everyone hates to do.' Wilson Holloway has touched all of our hearts with his passion for living."
