Tulsa Men's Golfers Finish Fifth at Desert Shootout

Goodyear, Ariz. - The University of Tulsa men's golf team finished fifth overall at the 2011 Desert Shootout at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. TU shot a 20-under par three-round 844 total (281-280-283).
Oklahoma claimed the team championship with a 48-under par 816, followed by Iowa State (838), TCU (839), North Texas (843) and Tulsa to round out the top-five teams.
Golden Hurricane sophomore Chris Worrell carded a nine-under par 207 for a sixth-place mark, while freshman Johannes Veerman was two strokes back in 11th place. John Young Kim shot a two-under par 214 for 28th place, Stephen Carney had an even-par 216 for 43rd place and Arie Fauzi recorded a 223 score for 70th place.
Oklahoma's Abraham Ancer took home the individual title with a 21-under par 195, six strokes ahead of teammate Will Knapp in second place.
Tulsa will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, March 21-22, at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz.
