TENNIS TITLES GIVE TULSA 33 CONFERENCE USA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Tulsa men's tennis team won the school's 33rd overall Conference USA title on Sunday.

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's and women's tennis teams won Conference USA Championships over the weekend and increased the number of league titles won by the school to a total of 33 in six years.

Tulsa has won the most league titles of any of the 12 league members since its' inception into the league in 2005. Tulsa's 33 championships include both regular season and post-season conference crowns. The Hurricane has won 11 regular season titles and 22 post-season tournament championships.

The Hurricane won its first C-USA title with the 2005 football championship.

This year Tulsa has won five titles including in men's and women's cross country, volleyball and men's and women's tennis. The championships for men's golf, softball, men's and women's outdoor track & field, baseball and rowing have yet to be determined (Tulsa does not field a baseball team).

After Tulsa's 33 C-USA championships, Rice is next with 20, SMU and Houston with 18, Memphis with 17, UCF with 16 and UTEP with 11. These are the only league schools with double-digit conference titles. Rounding out the C-USA championships is East Carolina's nine, Tulane with seven, UAB with four and three for both Marshall and Southern Miss.
