Tulsa Finishes Third at C-USA Men's Golf Championship

Texarkana, Arkansas - UCF carded a final round eight-under par 280 to overtake second round leader Tulsa and win the 2011 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship Tuesday afternoon.
Tulsa finished in third place with a four-over par total of 868 at the par 72, 6,935-yard Texarkana Country Club. The Hurricane turned in a score of three-over par 291 today, while Memphis stayed in second place for the tournament with an 864 total. UAB and Houston (871) tied for fourth place.
With the victory, UCF receives the Conference USA's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Tulsa freshmen John Young Kim and Johannes Veerman finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Both golfers carded even round scores of 72 today, while Kim finished the 54-hole event with a four-under par score of 212. Veerman ended the tournament with a three-round total of two-under par 214. Kim had four birdies and four bogeys on the day, while Veerman began the day shaky going three-over par on the first three holes, but regrouped and birdied holes 7, 15 and 17 to complete the day at even par.
Junior Stephen Carney carded a round of 74 for a two-over par score of 218, which was good for 16th place. Sophomore Chris Worrell had his best round of the tournament with a score of one-over par 73 on Tuesday and finished in 34th place with a 224 total. Junior Arie Fauzie finished in 45th place with a score of 230.
Memphis' Jonathan Fly won individual medalist honors with a 209 after turning in a score of 69 today.
Tulsa will wait to see if it receives an invitation to the NCAA Regional Tournament.
