IRVING, Texas - Chris O'Hare was named the C-USA Men's Outdoor Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week, the league announced today.

The sophomore for The University of Tulsa men's track and field team ran the nation's top mile time of 3:58.77 at the Drake Relays, breaking the school record in the process.

He finished third in the event and defeated Alan Webb, who is the American record-holder in the mile. Kenyan Boaz Lalang won the event in a time of 3:58.26. Lalang competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics and won the gold medal in the 800 meters at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The Track and Field Results Reporting System doesn't rank mile times, but of those converted to the 1,500m, O'Hare sports the top mile mark and ranks seventh in the nation in the 1,500m.

This was the third-straight week TU has received a male athlete of the week honor, as junior Carl Stones earned the award April 19.

The Golden Hurricane has one more meet before the Conference USA Championships, and the team will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., on May 6 for the Arkansas Twilight.
