Dallas, Texas - The University of Tulsa's 25th-ranked men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Washington in overtime on Friday night at the SMU Classic sponsored by Jason's Deli in Dallas, Texas. TU fell to 3-3 on the season, while the Huskies moved to 3-0-2.

"I thought we were doing a lot of things right," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We defended pretty well and combined fairly well at times, but we have to get better in the final third. We have to do more with our chances and do more to create chances. I am pleased with our overall performance, but we just have to keep plugging away and not get frustrated."

The first 90 minutes ticked off the clock with no goals scored, but before the first overtime period could begin the game was delayed for lightning. After a 45-minute delay, 7:50 ticked off the clock before the Huskies' Brent Richards ended the game with a shot from 15 yards out off a cross from Jacob Hustedt.

Corey Albertson had a team-leading five shots, including two shots on goal, while Stephen Roberson came in off the bench and had three attempts. Omar Mata and Kyle Cumings each had two shots. Michael Murray logged all 97:50 in goal and picked up three saves.

The Golden Hurricane had a 15-11 advantage in shots, while both team had four shots on goal, and TU had a 4-2 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 18th against Dartmouth. Game time is set for 12 noon at Westcott Field in Dallas.
