Sprinters Set PR's In Ames

AMES, Iowa - Six sprinters from the University of Tulsa track and field team all set personal bests in the 200-meter dash on the opening day of the Iowa State Open Friday at Lied Recreation-Athletic Facility.

Junior Julian Frazier had the best day for the Golden Hurricane, finishing sixth on the men's side with a mark of 21.88. He was just .02 seconds off cracking the top five all-time fastest 200-meter runs in school history.

Senior Justin Smith finished right behind Frazier in seventh with a time of 21.92. Junior Matt Davis placed 35th in 22.96.

Senior Racquell Powell ran the fastest time on the women's side, finishing 10th in 25.58. Sophomore Audrey Jean-Baptiste was 22nd in 26.11 and fellow sophomore Katherine Camp was 25th in 26.29.

The Golden Hurricane wraps up competition in Ames Jan. 21. The rest of the TU track and field team will compete Jan. 21 in Norman, Okla., at the J.D. Martin Invitational.
