Tulsa Men Golfers in 11th Place at John Hayt Collegiate

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. - After the opening round of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's golf team sit in 11th place in the 15-team field at the par-72 Sawgrass Country Club.
Tulsa had a first round score of 304 on Sunday and will continue with second round action on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday. The Hurricane sits only 10 strokes out of first place and six strokes behind fourth place.
Fellow Conference USA member UCF leads the field after carding an opening round 294, followed by Tennessee at 295, Coastal Carolina at 296 and tied for fourth place North Texas and LSU with scores of 298.
Hurricane junior Mark Mumford turned in Tulsa's best score of the day with an even-par 72 and sits in a ninth-place tie after the first round. Freshman Matt Mabrey is four shots behind his teammate with a four-over par 76 and is tied for 30th place.
Senior Andre' Tourinho carded an opening round 77 for 40th place. Sophomore John Young Kim and freshman Colton Staggs, Tulsa's top two finishers in the spring opening tournament two weeks ago, are in 57th and 78th place, respectively. Kim shot a score of 79, while Staggs had a round of 82.
LSU's Sang Yi leads the individual race with a five-under par 67. Leading three other golfers by one stroke.
The second round gets underway on Monday morning as Tulsa's first tee time is 8:45 am (ET).
