LINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 30-ranked University of Tulsa women's tennis team swept No. 58 Iowa 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Nebraska Tennis Center.

The Golden Hurricane (10-2) won all three doubles matches and was able to secure six straight-set singles victories over the Hawkeyes (5-5) on neutral grounds.

"There were tough conditions today, but the girls were able to play well despite that," head coach Dean Orford said. "Now we have a difficult test tomorrow that we have to prepare for."

Tulsa swept the doubles point, beginning on the second court where senior Bonny Davidson and sophomore Samantha Vickers won 8-0 over Morven McCulloch and Christina Harazin.

The senior duo of Anastasia Erofeeva and Ewa Szatkowska closed the door on Sonja Molnar and Shelby Talcott 8-3 at the top court, and junior Michelle Farley and freshman Isaura Enrique took down Katie Zordani and Ally Majercik 8-5 on the third court.

The dominant start carried over into singles action, as TU won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Enrique and Farley got things started with identical 6-1, 6-0 victories on courts 4 and 5, respectively, over Zordani and Harazin. Enrique has won five of her last six singles matches, while Farley has won eight of her last nine decisions.

No. 82-ranked Erofeeva posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over No. 110 Molnar at the top of the lineup to clinch the team victory, and Davidson defeated Ellen Silver 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. Both Erofeeva and Davidson have won five of their last six singles matches, and Erofeeva recorded her second victory over a ranked foe this spring.

Szatkowska posted a 7-5, 6-2 triumph over McCulloch at the third position, and No. 67-ranked Vickers closed out competition with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Talcott on the second court. Szatkowska is currently 11-1 during the dual season this spring, and she is also on a career-best eight-match win streak. Vickers has won 11 of her last 12 decisions.

Tulsa will stay in Lincoln overnight and prepare for a showdown with No. 32-ranked Nebraska tomorrow. The two teams will take the courts at 11:30 a.m. inside Nebraska Tennis Center.

The Cornhuskers (13-1) defeated Iowa 6-1 Friday and are currently riding a 12-match win streak. TU knocked NU out of the NCAA Tournament in the first round a year ago.
