Tulsa Men's Soccer Team Opens Season Against UMKC

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's soccer team will host UMKC in the season opener on Saturday, August 25th beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, while all youth (under 8th grade) wearing a soccer jersey get in free.

TU went 1-1 in exhibition play, defeating Denver, 1-0, and falling 2-1 to Missouri State. Bryce Follensbee scored for TU against the Pioneers and Cristian Mata tallied a goal against the Bears.

Tulsa returned 13 letterwinners, including eight starters, and five of its top seven scorers from a year ago. Omar Mata is the top returning scorer with four goals and four assists for 12 points, while Stephen Roberson tallied three goals and four assists for 10 points.

UMKC tallied a 5-9-3 overall record a year ago and returns 12 letterwinners, including six starters. The Kangaroos return Summit League Freshman of the Year Jordan Rideout, who had a team-leading seven goals last season, and the league's Newcomer of the Year Jeffrey Stezovsky.

This will be the 12th meeting between the two teams as TU has a 9-1-1 advantage in the all-time series.
