Golden Hurricane Track Squad Wraps Up Competition At Tyson Invitational

The Tulsa track and field squad enjoyed a successful final day at the Tyson Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Complex on the campus of the University of Arkansas on Saturday.
On the women's side, TU claimed the distance medley relay title as the veteran group of Lauren Collette, Katherine Camp, Sarah Macpherson and Erin Huddleston ran the third fastest time in school history of 11:40.07 to win the event.
Melanie Hughes earned a sixth-place showing in the 3,000-meter invitational clocking in 9:50.01.
For the men, Paulo Pinheiro was second in the 3,000-meter invitational round crossing the line in 8:05.06.
The distance medley relay crew of Simon Greiner, Adam Johnson, Danny Thater and Tim Rackers snared third with a time of 9:57.00.
Julian Frazier was 24th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.64.
"I think it was a great weekend for us," commented Head Coach Steve Gulley. "We made some massive improvements from last weekend and we got out and competed at one of the best meets in the NCAA."
The Golden Hurricane returns to action in two weeks when it will compete at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship in Birmingham, Ala.
