FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Tulsa track and field team finished the Arkansas Spring Invitational with eight top-three finishers, including three first-place results, on Friday and Saturday at John McDonnell Field at the University of Arkansas.
Alex Lybarger kicked off the Invite with a first-place finish in the men's hammer throw, with a mark of 59.45 meters.
In the track events, Tulsa's John Esswein had the top time in the men's 1500-meter run, with a time of 4:01.62, while Olivia O'Hare took the top time in the women's 1500-meter run seeded, with a mark of 4:31.52. In the men's 1500-meter run seeded, Simon Greiner took second place with a time of 3:50.67.
The Hurricane had a strong showing in the men's and women's 3000-meter run, as Ellis Coon (8:27.92) and Austin Del Rosso (8:28.83) took second and third in the event, while Emily Dunn took second on the women's side, with a time of 9:55.76.
Emma Galbraith had TU's other top-three finish, placing third in the women's 800-meter run seeded, crossing the finish line with a mark of 2:10.56.
In the women's sprints, Candalyn Lyons had a couple of top-10 finishes, finishing seventh in both the women's 100-meter dash (12.16), and 200-meter dash (24.82).
The Golden Hurricane will return to action next weekend at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, California, on April 3rd and 4th.
