Hurricane Track and Field Has Successful Day at Arkansas Twilight

Tulsa track and field had eight top-three finishers at Arkansas

The University of Tulsa track and field team had eight top-three finishes, including one first-place finish, on Friday at the Arkansas Twilight on John McDonnell Field.

Alex Lybarger had a busy day, as the junior participated in the hammer throw, discus throw and the shot put. In his first event, the hammer throw, Lybarger captured the top spot with a throw of 52.60 meters. In the discus, he finished fourth with a toss of 44.01 meters, before taking third in the shot put with a mark of 16.37 meters.

On the track, the women's 4x100-meter relay team (Christina HolmesCandalyn LyonsQuin Patterson and Lauren Thomas) finished second with a time of 46.25, less than a second slower than first-place Missouri State. Later in the day, sophomore Emma Galbraith ran her fastest 1,500-meter time to date, finishing second in 4:27.18.

The women's 4x400-relay team (Candalyn LyonsLauren ThomasEmma Galbraith and Christina Holmes) had a second-place finish for the Hurricane, coming across in 3:49.06.

The men's 4x400 team (Colt JohnsonIsaac SandersDavid Anderson and Austin Hostetler) also had a second-place showing, taking the runner-up spot in 3:16.55.

Mark Middleton ran the fastest collegiate time and third overall time in the 1,500 meter run, with a personal-best time 3:50.47.

Austin Del Rosso also had third-place finish for the Golden Hurricane, coming in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with a time of 9:19.92.
