Men's Track Qualifies Four on Day Two of American Outdoor Championships

The men are in third and the women are tied for ninth in the team standings
STORRS, Conn. - The University of Tulsa men's track and field team had four qualifying times on day two of the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships at the University of Connecticut, as Bryce Robinson (200m), Simon Greiner (800m), Elijah Silva (800m) and Colt Johnson (400m hurdles) all advance to their respective finals on Sunday.
The men's team is now in third in the team standings with 31 points, while the women are tied for ninth, with six team points.
Greiner and Silva were the first to qualify for the Golden Hurricane, coming in the 800-meter run. Greiner had the second fastest run of the day and the fastest in heat two, with a mark of 1:50.66. Silva won heat one and produced the third fastest time (1:52.83) of the afternoon. The 800-meter final will take place at 11:30 a.m. CT on Sunday.
Johnson was the next to qualify, after picking up the sixth fastest time (53.38) in the 400-meter hurdles. The senior finished second in heat two. His final appearance will take place at 11:50 a.m. CT on Sunday.
Robinson raced in the final event of the day, the 200-meter dash, earning the fastest time of the day (21.19), en route to his first of potentially two finals appearances. The 200-meter final is on Sunday at 11:50 am CT.
Alex Lybarger had the only chance to score for the Hurricane on Friday, but he finished just outside of the points in the discus throw in 10th place, with a throw of 145'0".
On the ladies side, Audrey Jean-Baptiste finished 10th in the 200-meter preliminaries, missing out on an opportunity to qualify for Sunday's final.
Saturday will begin with the field events at 8:30 a.m. CT, with the javelin, while the track events will begin with the 1,500-meter run at 1:30 p.m. CT.
The only track finals tomorrow are the men's and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Isaac Dobos, Kirk Smith and Austin Del Rosso will represent the men, while Stacie Taylor will run for the women in Saturday's final, beginning at 3:30 p.m. CT.
