Track and Field Qualifies Eight for Sunday's Finals on Day Three of American Outdoor Championships

The men had seven qualifiers, including all six from the 1,500-meter prelim

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Tulsa track and field team's wrapped up day three with eight qualifying times, while the men scored seven team points, and the women earned four, Saturday at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The men rank fourth in the team standings with 38 points, while the women are tied for ninth with 10 points.

The men and women each picked up their points in the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals. In the men's race, Austin Del Rosso (9:14.66) and Isaac Dobos (9:27.18) finished fourth and seventh, respectively, while Stacie Taylor (11:10.43) gave the Hurricane women four points with a fifth-place finish.

The men's 1,500-meter race was monumental for the Golden Hurricane, who qualified all six of their runners and had four of the top-five spots in Saturday's prelims. Adam Palamar (3:51.17) finished with the top time of the day and picked up a meet record in heat one. Elijah Silva (3:52.50) and Mark Middleton (3:51.21) earned the second and third spots, while Simon Greiner (3:51.24) rounded out the top-five for TU. John Esswein (3:53.88) and Dallas Elmore (3:55.22) finished in the 10th and 11th positions to earn spots into tomorrow's final. The men's 1,500-meter final will begin at 11:30 a.m. CT on Sunday.

Bryce Robinson made his way to his second final on Sunday after taking the top time (10.47) and winning heat one of the 100-meter dash. His time was good for a new stadium record. Sunday's 100-meter final will take place at 11:20 a.m. CT.

On the women's side, Audrey Jean-Baptiste made her way into the 400-meter final, the event she won in the indoor season, after earning the third-fastest time (52.77) of the day. The women's 400-meter final will begin at 11:05 a.m. CT.

The men have an opportunity to make a huge jump in the standings on the final day of the championships, as they will have 24 opportunities to score, spread throughout nine different finals.
