Men's Track and Field Places Second; Women Finish Ninth in American Outdoor Championships

Bryce Robinson was named the Men's Track Most Outstanding Performer
STORRS, Conn. - The University of Tulsa track and field team's concluded the 2015 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as the men finished runners-up with a total of 127 points, while the women finished in ninth with 36 points.
The men finished second behind the 2015 champions and host school Connecticut, who finished the meet with 158 points. SMU won the title on the women's side, with 131 points.
Bryce Robinson was named the men's track Most Outstanding Performer, after being champion in both the 100 and 200-meter dash. The junior also earned the MOP award in the American Indoor Championships this year.
Robinson won the 100-meter dash in sub-10 seconds, with a time of 9.99. He matched his season best, and earned a meet and stadium record in the rout. Second place finished .35 seconds behind the Tulsa All-American. In the 200, Robinson ran away from the field and was the only runner to finish in under 21 seconds, besting the second-place performer by .57 seconds. His time of 20.47 was a new meet record.
The men's 1,500-meter run was a big event for the Hurricane, who finished the race with four of the top five finishers, which included a sweep of the top-three, for a total of 28 points. Adam Palamarwas the champion of the 1,500, with a winning time of 3:49.58, a new meet record. Simon Greinerfinished second in the event with a time of 3:50.25, while Elijah Silva finished just behind him in 3:50.36. Tulsa's Mark Middleton rounded out the top-five, finishing in fifth with a time of 3:51.65.
Greiner and Silva also saw success in the 800-meter run. Greiner was crowned champion of the 800, coming across in 1:50.26, while Silva finished in fourth in 1:51.49.
In the 5,000-meter run, favorite Marc Scott pulled away in the final 200 meters to win the event in 14:35.50. This was his second first-place medal of the championships, after winning the 10,000-meter early in the weekend. Teammate Tim Rackers finished the 5k in third place, with a time of 14:41.29.
The women's top finisher was Olivia O'Hare in the 1,500, where she finished in second place, with a time of 4:29.51. Her teammate Olivia Lopez finished in sixth in the event, with a time of 4:32.89.
Senior Audrey Jean-Baptiste had a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter finals for the Golden Hurricane, coming across in 51.93.
The women's 5k saw three Hurricane finish in the points, led byNicole Lee who finished fourth in the event, with a mark of 17:12.45.Natasha Cockram finished sixth in 17:17.31, while Clara Langley finished right behind her in seventh, with a time of 17:19.55.
