Tulsa Moves Practice to the Afternoon Following Morning Rain

In temperatures that felt more like October than August, the Tulsa football team practiced for two hours in 69-degrees Wednesday afternoon on the turf of H.A. Chapman Stadium. Tulsa moved a scheduled morning workout to the afternoon due to the rain.

"With the weather like it is, sometimes you have to make changes. We had to change our whole schedule around today, but I thought our guys handled it well. We were able to get good work in on the field this afternoon, and in the morning we were able to get a good lift and some film work in," said Montgomery. "Overall, we had a good day."

After 12 days of practice, Montgomery is pleased on where the Hurricane team stands at this point of the preseason.

"The thing that our guys are doing is that they're thriving off of each other. I'm seeing guys, instead of thinking so much, that now they're really playing and reacting, and that's always a positive sign," said Montgomery.

Montgomery indicated that in today's film session the Tulsa coaches introduced FAU to the players. "In our films today, we watched a little bit of practice, then a little bit of FAU as far as introducing them to our players. We'll put more emphasis on it after Saturday's practice, starting on Sunday and more next Tuesday," Montgomery said.

The Annual Tulsa Football Kickoff Luncheon presented by ONEOK and ONE Gas is Thursday at the Downtown Cox Business Center. Tulsa will take-off from practicing on Thursday, and will be back on the practice field Friday morning.

Tulsa opens the 2015 season against the FAU Owls on Saturday, September 5, at H.A. Chapman Stadium with game time set for 2:30 p.m. The season opener has been billed as a White-Out Game, where all fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. Fans, 21-years and older, in attendance will also have an opportunity to win a Lexus NX automobile at the game.

Official White-Out T-shirts are available at Midwest Sporting Goods locations in Tulsa, online at tulsafootball@itemorder.com through this Thursday, August 20, or can be purchased at the stadium gates on game day. Cost for the T-shirt is $5.00. In addition, the first 5,000 fans will receive a Hurricane Flag to help support Tulsa's 'Wave the Flag' Tradition that began a year ago.

Season tickets for the entire six-game home schedule, the Mazzio's Family Fun Zone ticket package and 3-Game Pick 'Em Mini-Packs are now available. Fans can go online at TulsaHurricane.com, call 918.631.GoTU (4688) or purchase tickets in person at the TU athletic ticket office between 8:30-5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
