
Tulsa Women’s Soccer Team Hosts SMU and Houston This Week

The Tulsa women's soccer team will host SMU on Thursday, October 1st beginning at 7:00 pm and Houston on Sunday, October 4th beginning at 1:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
The Tulsa-SMU game is 'Dad & Daughters Night', where dads with their daughters dressed in a soccer jersey will get in free, and the TU-UH game is 'Breast Cancer Awareness Day' as the first 200 students will receive a free t-shirt. Additional shirts will be available for a $5 donation.
Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688. Youth 12 and under can get in free by wearing a soccer jersey, and TU students can show their student ID to receive free admission at the gate.
Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on TulsaHurricane.com/watch. There is a 24HR Pass, a Monthly Pass and Yearly Pass that allow you to watch all TU home men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball games depending on the package purchased.
The Golden Hurricane enters the weekend with a 9-1-1 overall record and a 0-0-1 mark in American Athletic Conference play. Tulsa currently ranks fourth in shutout percentage (.727), sixth in goals-against average (.356), ninth in won-lost-tied percentage (.864), 26th in saves percentage (.867), 37th in total goals (23) and 50th in scoring offense (2.09 GPG) in the nation.
TU has netted 23 goals for a 2.09 goals per game average, while holding its opponents to just 0.36 gpg (4 goals). Christina Holmes has tallied five scores, while Rachel Thun has netted three goals. Thun has seven assists and Roman Edwards has four.
Tulsa has also recorded eight clean sheets, including a six-game streak to set a school record for consecutive shutouts. Rebecca Defer has logged 450:00 between the posts, picked up seven saves and has allowed one goal, while Courtney McKeon has 560:00 minutes in goal and 19 saves.
SMU has a 4-4-3 overall record and a 1-0-1 mark in the league. The Mustangs are led by Vanessa Valadez with seven goals and 18 points, while a trio of players have a team-high three assists. Shannon Moroney has played the majority of minutes in goal, has 33 save and a 1.27 GAA.
Houston has a 4-6 overall record, including a 0-2 mark in The American. The Cougars are led by Selena Peters, Lexa Green and Desiree Bowen with three goals each, while four players all have two assists a piece. Jordan Brown has played all 900 minutes in goal, had 39 saves and allowed 14 goals.
