University of Tulsa running back James Flanders was selected as the American Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.

Flanders, a 5'10", 203-pound senior from Midwest City, Okla., rushed for a career-high 249 yards, five touchdowns and a 7.5 average per carry on 33 carries in a 59-30 road win at Memphis on Saturday night. His five rushing touchdowns broke the school record of four which was established by Ron Jackson in the 1991 Freedom Bowl, and tied Keenan Reynolds (Navy, 2015) for the American Athletic Conference record for rushing touchdowns.

Flanders had TD runs 14 and 52 yards in the 1st quarter, one yard in the 2nd quarter, 48 yards in the 3rd quarter to make the score 45-30 and seven yards in the 4th quarter giving Tulsa a 52-30 lead.

Flanders' 249 yards ranks as the sixth-best rushing performance in school history, and it was the second straight week that he rushed for a career high. In Tulsa's previous game, Flanders ran for 190 yards against Tulane.

It's the third time this season that a Tulsa player has earned a weekly Player of the Week award by the American Athletic Conference. Previous winners this season for Tulsa have included linebacker Trent Martin (Sept. 3) and safety Jeremy Brady (Sept. 26).
